How Long Will Virus Linger On Surfaces and in the Air?
—THE NEW YORK TIMES, March 20, 2020

As long as clouds spread threats of rain and linger on the horizon?

As long as early green spreads along slender winter-bare branches?

As long as jacarandas await their spread of violent blue?

Or blossoms spread along those limbs to shadow the ground

While the chill of evening spreads into long inaccurate night?

Am I the one to ask when spring breaks out across the surface?
